Meaning if i had known the fire was hot i wouldn;t have put my hand in it, we can all think of things that we wouldn't have done or said with hindsight but we haven't been blessed with it have we!

If I had known that the world was going to turn in to a worse place than it was when I was born in 1943, I think in my teens I would have enjoyed myself more, but you don't know what the future holds, que, sera, sera! What a state we are in now? What a world for our kids to be bought up in? So sad!

It means they would have liked the benefit of there wisdom at a younger age as opposed to being wise at an older age. This is common for all of us. Its like setting up your own buisness at age 30 doing relly well then you would say i wish i did it at 20 coz it has worked etc.

Would be like having an old head on young shoulders, it would be awful. You have to get out there and make your own mistakes as the oldies have.
