I need to get to St Ives (can get to Ely by train). How far is St Ives from Ely and is there a train? If not how much would a taxi be? Or is there a bus?

And yes I do mean St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

Looks like it's a train and bus journey. Details and times on this site. http://www.traveline.org.uk/index.htm Journey time about 1 hr 20 mins

| don't know where you're coming from, but it's far easier to get there from Cambridge than Ely if that's practical for you - plenty of buses.
... and on the way don't forget to watch out for the man who has all those wives ...

Again depending on where you are starting from, Huntingdon is a good railhead for St Ives and a shorter bus ride than from Cambridge.

has the buses from both Cambridge and Huntingdon

The train and bus stations are rather closer together in Huntingdon too if other things are equal

Forget Ely.

OK - travelling from Attleborough, the line goes to Ely but I think it also goes to Cambridge. So I would be better going to Cambridge, then a bus to St. Ives?

Yes, go to Cambridge.

AFAIK there are no buses from Ely to St Ives and (from Attleborough) Huntingdon is a looong way round.

If you don't know Cambridge it's quite a hike (getting on for half an hour) from the train station to the bus station but there are frequent buses
