Why Was This Woman Put On The Sex Offenders Register?

Serious question, I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly) the sex offenders register was to identify rapists and child molesters.

Whilst what she was doing in a public place was pretty disgusting, surely adding her to the sex offenders register is an overreaction. Or have I missed something?

Outraging public decency. Apparently.
dirty old bag, but no, she should not be put on the sex offenders register !!

Yes she should! The law was changed in 2006 and extra offences added to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which included voyeurism, exposure and sex in a public lavatory,

The changes include outraging public decency, which is the offence she is charged with.

It does dilute the seriousness of being on it though; may have been a bad change. Not all sex related offences need be register fodder.
Why is she a dirty old bag, who hasn't had sex in a public place at least once? If they were both 20 it would be considered a giggle.

///Many people view the notification requirements for the sex offenders register as creating a paedophiles register where names and addresses of individuals committing sexual offences against children can be found. The register is not just limited to offences against children however, as the definition of sexual offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 is extremely wide and not simply confined to offences against children.
A whole range of offences such as rape stretching as far as voyeurism can require notification – this is required regardless of the age of the victim.///

Totally agree with you Prudie, double standards it would seem.

But the expression "Dirty old bag" was totally uncalled for, I was once openly taken to task by the Ed for daring to call a female criminal "a ***".

Once again double standards it would seem.
I admit I have done it (more than a few times) but never in a public park near a busy road in the middle of the morning.

Discretion is key for this sort of thing. Many people saw them
I agree that it is OTT. IMO the Sex Offenders' Register is the prerogative of rapists and paedophiles.
That may be your opinion, Jackdaw, but it is wrong.

Why was the male not put on the register too??
He will be, when he is released from prison
As I have already said on an almost identical thread.....what is she going to do when she loses her looks ?
Have you any advice for her Mikey?
"Grandmother, 79, becomes the oldest woman ever on the UK sex offenders’ register after being caught having sex in a park with her toyboy lover, 54"

Makes you feel proud to be British!

Stay indoors and stay off the strong lager might be a good start Mamy !

And does a 54 year old chap really count as a "toy boy" ?
Headline writer thinks so.
I've heard many a man joke you don't look at the mantelpiece when you poke the fire so why should her looks matter?
Well...considering that he is said to have drunk an awful lot of strong lager Prudie, I don't expect it did to him !
