Does anybody remember around the 50s & 60s in Christmas crackers there used to be a toy called "Dick the diver" it was a small plastic frogman with a little cavity on his back that trapped an air bubble in it, when you put it in an old fashioned beer bottle with the screw down stopper (which was full of water) when you tightened the stopper he would sink to the bottom then rise up again when you released the stopper, I had hours of fun with this toy, I can also remember getting a large seashell that had been varnished, when you put that into a large glass or vase of water the shell would open and out would float lots of coloured paper flowers, very simple toys but they kept kids amused for ages.

We never had Christmas crackers - too poor I guess.
The first time I had them was when I was in my 20's
Those toys sound like great fun
I wonder if that would work with an half filled marigold.

'Nostalgia' it's not what it used to be!
I'm going to get my Grandson a Kaleidoscope, he's 4 and uses an ipad but think he'll love it, often simple is best.
I like the ol hoop and stick. They weren't around when I was a kid but have seen kids playing with them in 3rd world countries on tv.
Remember them well - think we also got them free in breakfast cereals?
Nostalgia is my middle name haha ;)
tony - how very dare you!
I remember those 'Magic Fish' that used to be in Christmas crackers ( they may still be ) made out of colored polythene stuff, if you ran your finger along them they would curl up.

I used to have a kaleidoscope as a kid, played with it for hours. He'll love it, Mamya.
Can still buy the magic fish.
