Not sure if this is posted in the right place but hey ho...

My closest friend goes to Turkey this Sunday to work as a Rep. We're having a party for her but I wanted to do some quirky things that are linked with Turkey, does anyone know of any Turkish traditions that could be fun to do........... or drinks or foods etc. Would appreciate any ideas to make sure she gets a memorable party!!

Thanks in advance!!

What about belly dancing? You could arrange for someone from your local dance school to come along and give a demo - and bring a costume for your mate! Or just buy a video/dvd and all have a go yourselves.

As far as food is concerned, meze is your best bet. Lots of small dishes of tasty foods served with pita breads and salads. Try searching your local supermarket or deli for some of these (or search the web for recipes and have a go yourself): mini kebabs, hoummous, babaganoush (aubergine dip), feta or halloumi cheese, olives, felafel, tabbouleh, mujadarra (rice and lentils), pistachio nuts, baklava. You could try serving pomegranite juice to drink - they sell this in a lot of ethnic grocers.

If she's got a sense of humour get the DVD of "Midnight Express" to play in the background!
