Just watched the news about the Loom craze. Surely this is a form of French knitting from years ago in which a wooden cotton bobbin with small nails attached to the end was used to thread wool through the hole in the bobbin in a knitted form. Nothing new there then!!

I'll bet hoovers all over the country will be full of them.
it used to be called "tatting" when I was young.
we used to use ordinary cotton reels for French knitting. I suppose this is what Mme Defarge did while waiting at the guillotine for the next execution.
Mini Boo is also obsessed with this. So far we've more bracelets than we can shake a stick at- for the entire family. She's now progressed to making flowers, pandas and viper type snakes, they're very impressive!
Dare I Google to find out what the "Loom Craze" is?
Is it witchcraft?
My little sister is mad on it and was really surprised when my Nan was really good at it. She calls it tatting as well Dee Sa.
Dare, Ed, dare! (I bet you did anyway).
Typical convo in our house...

Mini Boo- Wanna 'nuvver bracelet?

Me: Why yes? Might as well have 10 on each arm....

MB- What colours you want?

M- Errrr, green and pink please.

MB- No green left

M- Ok, i'll have purple and pink

MB- No pink left.

M- *sigh* ok, any colours then, surprise me!
I also remember it as french knitting. Mum used to save her empty wooden cotton reels which Dad hammered 4 tin tacks on the top and hey presto - a mini loom!
Watching this item on the breakfast show made us say "How long will it be before the "Elf 'n safety" brigade scupper this craze, 'baybees' can swallow them, kids flicked in the eye - oh they could have a field day with this one, as with playing conkers!
I remember the bead swapping craze in my playground days, OH remembers badge collecting.
im refusing to find out what it is
here you are fluffy

yup...............have been gifted.. 10 bracelets, 6 rings, :)
just wait it will go the same way as zomblings, the trash pack and zoobles :-)
I wonder if Mrs Boo and Mrs Heep are one and the same. Certainly the conservations in our house since last year have been similar. As a result of many hours at the kitchen table all of mini Heep's friends are encased in rubber up to the elbow. She too has moved onto other fantasic creations and the hoover seems to live on a diet of multi coloured bands. What craze next?
I was wondering what all the little multi coloured rings were that I was seeing all over the balcony, stairs and garden of my building. One of the little girls here is into it.
All the kids are at it! Ihat video looks like a version of cats cradle but with tiny loops.....

I still use my French knitting dolly, it's great for making lengths of cord when I'm knitting toys :-)
