I have been in five plus Tropical Storm Alison and the worst one was the last one, Ike, being only three miles away from the eye as the he came ashore, three in the States and two typhoons in HK (not counting the near misses) which get you thinking about evacuating.

Well only one was whilst travelling, all the others I was living there. My baby sister is trapped in the Marriott just off Times Square - she went over for a shopping trip and some fun for the girls (six of them). I spoke to my bro-in-law yesterday and said "I'm impressed - calling up a major storm to stop her spending money!". She's the one to avoid travelling with, as this is her third, the other two being Hurricanes Andrew and Wilma, so she doesn't half pick them. My biggies were Charlie in New Orleans and Ike, though the biggest "panic" was Hurricane Rita, which I don't count in my tally. Even though we had rooms booked in Dallas, we didn't go, relying on the Crown Weather site I passed onto Pasta, which had it spot on, passing Houston to come in around the State border with the "Swamp", sorry Louisiana.
Our next door neighbours, who were new, left at 4am and I called them at 3pm with the latest tracking, they had travelled just 60 odd miles to be just north of Bush Intercon, and were back home in less than an hour. My mater was horrified that we stayed but I pointed out that, in a storm. I would rather be in a brick house than some cigar tube on four wheels...... Being on the "clean" side of the storm, all we got were 45 mile an hour winds.

Dumbo is an anacronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass....It's become a trendy arts community in recent years.

No news yet DT....I've got to go find the website for the power company-and see what the prognosis is for a return to power-I don't really expect to hear anything until that is sorted.
