Does anyone manufacture spike soled or metal-studded footwear other than golf or running shoes to make walking on ice safer? There would seem to be a large gap in the market as I can't find anything anywhere. There might be a significant saving to the NHS dealing with broken limbs too!

The trouble with such shoes is when you come off the ice onto a clear surface. If you've tried walking on a pavement with spiked soles, you'll know it's not very comfortable. And shopkeepers wouldn't be too happy, either! But there are already any number of slip-on or clip-on spiked soles on the market that fit over normal dress or sports shoes, and which can do the job perfectly well.
