BT put me on new contract when I moved home

Moved home within 12 months of signing up with BT landline on an 18 month contract. Theyve connected me at my new place but over the phone said that they have put me on a new 18 month contract. Is this legal? I certainly didnt agree to it. Where do I stand?

Did they charge you for ending the old contract/transferring to a new address?
