funny looking fish things?

we recently took a trip to Alton towers and whilst there we went into the sealife centre and there was some weird looking little fish they looked like slugs bright yellowy green in colour and when you put your hand above the tank they came to the surface i have pictures but dont know how to paste them on to here what i wanted to know is what are they? can they be kept as other fish? i just fell in love with them so any info them would be great thanx.
