Does anyone have a clue where i would start, if i wanted to broadcast my live audio over the internet?

I can't be more helpful than this, but I've heard of it being done by using win amp.  (Free to download).  Not sure how though.

Yes, you can do it from Winamp.  You need something called shoutcast aswell (www.shoutcast.com) to broadcast with it.  It has plugins so you can play mp3s and mix in your microphone etc.
