I need to take something back to Next but do not have the receipt, will I get a full refund or just the price it is now if it's in the sale? Even though it was bought at non sale price. I know I won't get a cash refund but probably a voucher and that's fine as long I get the full price back of the goods.

With no receipt you will get a credit note at the price it is now

Thanks for your answer. That's what I thought and didn't want to happen.
If you can tell Next the date, time, method of payment (and card number if it's a card) and till that you bought the goods on, they may be able to track the transaction and find out how much you paid for it and give back this amount. They're not obliged to do this, but they might.

You won't however, unless the item is faulty, get money back - you'll get a credit note.
If you can give the store the info suggested above ^^^^ they will chewck their back office and find proof of purchase, but it is up to them whether they will refund, some stores would

Hmmm. Well it was a gift from my dad which I don't particuarly like but I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying that and asking for the receipt so I could take it back.
Couldn't you tell your dad it's a little bit small or big and say that you want to exchange it for a different size but can't do without a receipt.
