Does anyone know of a successful product or home made technique to rid my car of small scratches and tar splashes? I heard Mer is quite good but I've not been able to get hold of it. [Email address removed as per site policy. AB Editor]

Bettaware & Kleeneze [thru the door catalogues] do it, I think they also sell it on QVC shopping channel. The tar will come off with white spirit -test somewhere inconspicuos first
T-cut? but please follow instructions (like i didn't) so you don't end up taking off all the sheen (like i did)
Easiest way to get tar splashes off is to use a bit of petrol or diesel on a rag. It will come off no problem at all. Just don't have a fag on while you're doing it!!
For tar spots, Swarfega, the hand cleansing stuff, does the trick.
For the tar try butter on a very damp cloth and rubbing. Top trick!!!
You can get it in halfords. The best stuff is Meguiars Scratch X according to my other half. you can buy it from www.speeding.co.uk for 8.99 with free postage.
