I bought a pair of shorts from Asda just to wear in the garden. Only wanted a cheap pair so to be on the safe side a bought a pair in a larger size. A 16. When I got home and tried them on, they were more like a size 12. All their tops fit me properly but trousers and this pair of shorts all seem to come up smaller. Does anyone find this with Asda?

Most "cheap" clothing is like this. Another shop like this is Bwise. I`m normally a 16, but have to get 18/20 from there.
Asda's sizing varies massively from one item to another - I have 3 pairs of jeans from there in 3 different sizes yet the tops don't seem to vary too much maybe just one size difference!!

I've found that I need to try everything on, as even 2 pairs of pants in the same style can vary ie if I try on 2 size 12 pairs one will fit and the other will be too small!!

A xXx
i have the opposite, i got all my maternity in size 18 and they are forever falling down, and the dress was soooo huge, so i took them back and got a 16 and they fit, but with non maternity stuff i had the problem of some things too big others too small, i never buy there without trying on now as you can never tell!

I was a bit embarrased to try them as I would not be seen dead in them outside the house. That was the reason for not paying much for them. Just wanted something a bit cooler to wear in the garden. Oh well! I will know next time. Thanx.
Maggie,
Take them back. Asda are always more than willing to exchange:-)
Incidentally I heard form someone who used to work there that if the checkout assistant leaves a security tag on your purchase and the alarm goes off as you leave the store they're supposed to give you a 2 smiley voucher for your inconvenience and embarrassment!
All you need to do is ask :-) (and appear embarrassed presumably)

I did take them back but they didn't have anymore. Getting rid of summer stock. I bought an outfit from Debenhams and had to get a size smaller, so just goes to show that you get what you pay for. This was a Jaques Vert outfit.
Bit of a snob,you,Maggie01
I'm wearing a George skirt at the moment which is size 14, I have a dressing gown from there which is size 12/14 yet I also have a dress which is size 18 - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their sizes!

MEEEEEEEEEEEEE NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I am not a snob. The outfit was for my daughter's wedding. It is not till next year but I loved the outfit. Don't think she would be too happy if I turned up in a george special.
This happened to me but in reverse ! I got a pair of size 12 shorts which are quite big, more of a 14/16. Having said that, I only paid 2 for them so I didn't expect wonders. I find that George's stuff is not bad quality, but you always need to try things on.
