I've got loads but I'll limit it to 5.

1. Paying by cheque
2. People who think think baskets only means a basket inside a trolley, cos they are too lazy to carry the basket.
3. People who do not move up the Q so they have an ever increasing gap in front of them and moan like mad when you overtake them. "Sorry I thought you where playing statues, this is a queue they only work when people move forward in them"
4. People who think 5 tins of beans is 1 item in the 8 items or less Q.
5. Some bloke the other day who asked for a packet of cigarettes at the normal till and instead of telling him to bog off the cashier had to get the supervisor to go to the cigarette kiosk, keep the rest of us waiting, still gave me plenty of time to tell him what an a55hole he was.

'Scuse me Loosehead, but I am NOT a pensioner yet! I work as well.

I agree that online shopping is very worth while and often do this myself.

But sometimes it is great to go to the supermarket in our small town, where everyone knows everyone else and stops to chat, taking approx one hour to get just a few items and blocking up the aisles with our trolleys; then having a nice chat with the checkout staff who you have known for years whilst you sort out your card - all the time enjoying annoying the Looseheads who are in a hurry.

Only joking Loosehead, but our supermarket really is quite a social meeting place - comes of living in the sticks!!!!

And one day I might forgive you for implying that I am a pensioner!! (It won't be too long though :o) )

Quite... and if I ever see you in my queue Loosehead you are very welcome to go ahead of me ..if you only have one or two items !! I know the feeling about the top shelf..being quite tall people often ask for me to get things for them..but I draw the line at bobbing down to get something at the back.I have enough trouble bobbing down myself !!
You and I both Shaneystar! At present I can't get down to the bottom shelves at all and have to rely on people like Smudge being around to help (or failing that some nice young unsuspecting man).
Yes..Loosehead..if you are a nice young man..then I have no doubt you will quite amenable to scrabbling around on the bottom shelf to retrieve that elusive Bogoff for me !! In the meantime I shall avoid you at lunchtime and advise you to take a packed lunch which you can eat in peace and not get so stressed in the supermarket !!
Has anyone mentioned kids standing in trolleys? With dirty great trainers on?
btw, basket only Q's do not state you have to be carrying the basket, otherwise they would be called carried basket only q's I am unsure of what your objection is to that, as it first seemed to be implying i was lazy, but then seemed to imply i would take up too much space. It's better when someone takes up loads of space coz then, when i get served it feels like the q is going down more quickly, and you can feel smug and superior to those who are in longer lines! I'm doing you a favour really :)
I am wondering why all the above answers were reported. I'm fairly new to the site and wouldn't want to offend anyone.

People with no children but posh cars parking in the "Family and Children" spaces because the spaces are wider and they're worried someone might ding their precious car with a door in the normal areas!

Don't they realise these spaces are located close to the store to minimise the danger to young children while crossing often very busy car parks.

I tend to let my 4 year old drive my trolley if we are passing a line of posh cars with no child seats in them, we call it supermarket pinball!

People leaving their trolleys in the centre of the aisles whilst they waltz off to look at something else.

Definatly kids sitting or standing in trolleys, you can just imagine what they have been standing in before they get in them! and then we are expected to put food in. I am surprised that Health and Saftey havn't picked up on this one yet.

I apologise in advance to the older generation, but why if your retired do you have to go shopping on a saturday or sunday, you've got all week to go!!

Check out assistants that squash your bread when their scanning it.

Charity workers that pack your bags to raise money. Bread and eggs DO NOT go in the same carrier as your 12 cans of dog food. (fellow females will understand this one)

And sorry joefish 999, but this one really hacks me off. Disabled spaces close to the store, yes I agree with and would never park in one of these spaces. However why should I have to walk to the back of the car park in the pouring rain, struggling with a trolley just because I havn't got kids. You chose to have them, leave them at home and no I don't own a big' posh car' unlike the majority of mums have i.e. renault sceanics, people movers, range rovers or other 4x4's.

People who park in the 'pick up point' and quite brazenly unload their whole family and proceed to do their entire shop for an hour when they are not picking anyone up at all .... makes my blood boil

swamp duck - I go shopping for my convenience not for the convenience of others! If I want to shop at the weekend then why shouldn't I. I am of the 'older generation' and almost of retiring age. And it's good for children to go shopping with their parents. It teaches them to integrate and to be part of a family. What do you want these parents to do - leave their children at home alone? Or perhaps you would like them to shop at a time convenient to you too. I don't know where you live but the majority of mums I know don't have expensive people carriers at all.

Too many aggressive and impatient people about. They need to chill out.

gessoo Thank you for restoring my faith in humans. I see it's still easy to wind people up!!!

Not wound up at all swamp-duck. It takes a bit more than that. And why post on a subject just to wind people up - bit sad really!
