Hi,

I have put a 512mb stick into my pc replacing the 128mb that was in there. Since this has gone in i get the message:

validation failed for c:\windows\system32\vsutil.dll

i have since gone back to my original setup of 128 mb and things are normal again.

can someone please help!

vsutil.dll is a DLL used by Zonealarm firewall. Try uninstalling and re-installing the program as this should repair thw DLL.

If this doesn't work post back

Question Author

so should I uninstall zone alarm and then add the memory stick or just reinstall zonealarm and then add the memory.

many thanks

I would uninstall Zonealarm and then install and run a free registry cleaner like Regseeker from http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm.

Add the new memory, reboot the PC then re-install Zonealarm making sure you have the most up to date version from http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/t rial_zaFamily/homeofficetrial_zaFamily.jsp;jsessionid=D5 ciZYV18I02CujrwDHzClvJrMagsN9eCgiuwubawcG7D1jiRzDr!19594 99497!-1062696904!7551!7552!NONE?dc=12bms&ctry=GB&am p;lang=en

Question Author

I uninstalled the zonealarm and all its components.

done a full scan, put the memory back in, rebooted the pc.

this then resulted in 'blue screen', also drwatson postmortem ******** also a box stating 'array access out of bounds', none of this has happened since replacing the new emory with the old stick.

Can you tell me what memory you have put into the computer?

There are lots of different types and the memory you have may not be the correct type for your PC. Where did you buy it from as it seems that its incompatible with your PC

Question Author

i bought it from pc world.

it is 'PNY' 512mb DIMM DDR 184 pins.

Thats all it says on the box, i'm afraid!
