thank you lady p and geff for your recent answers. I do have a pension scheme but is my wife only entitled to it from the duration of our marriage. We have been married for less than 2 years although the scheme has been running for 16 years. Does this mean she is only entitled to a share of the monies paid over the 2 years of marriage

I am not sure but I think she may be entitled to a pension sharing order which would mean that she could get a percentage or an actual figure from your pension which would then become a pension in her own right. After such a short marriage I doubt if it came to it whether she would be entitled to a large chunk of it however it all depends on her ability to fend for herself after the marriage. Also you have no children and all these things are going in your favour.
By the way - if she works or has paid into a pension, don't forget it works both ways !
