Hi after messing me about up court and my ex getting it adjourned 3 times, on the last time I went he never even bothered turning up, the judge gave me the court order i needed and ordered him to pay all costs for that day, my solicitors are now threatening to take me to court for not paying the bill. They are saying that i have to pay the bill 1900 then i have to claim it back off my ex. But it will cost me court fees and solicitors fees again. I have no chance of ever getting this back off him as he owes me 15 years child maintenance for 3 children!! plus other money that he borrowed off me in the past. This court case has already cost me over 10,000 to stop him seeing our children, and he got legal aid for solicitor and barrister. can the solicitors claim this money off me?

but the court ordered him to pay it.
Its not my fault they cant get it off him. me and my partner would have been better off quitting our jobs and getting legal aid like he had. We had to get a loan to pay the solicitors and now have nothing, we dont have the 1900, in fact we dont have 190!!
It's a horrible situation to be in, but there is no easy answer. Unfortunately some people play the system with legal aid (not saying your ex is, I'm just saying the system, like many other means tested systems, is open to abuse).
But whilst I agree it's not your fault that your ex won't pay up, equally it's not your solicitor's fault either, and it's understandable that they want their 1900.
When anyone takes up for the services of a solicitor there is always the risk that they will have to pay the bill, especiallyt if the other party has no money

ok thanx for your answers, just seems after all these years he still gets away with everything and i'm still paying for ever meeting him!! you was right he does play the system, through the courts, and the benefits system, he cons both. Just makes me sick how scum like him manage to get away with it.
