i see starbucks are running an ad campaign about "every name tells a story" ive seen a couple , one where the boy is transgender and is happy he's "allowed" to use his name and one with the (?) actress. Great.
But it really really annoys me that SB even ask for a name. I was in there once and they asked for my name when i was the only person int he shop. I asked them why and they said it "was policy" but does it annoy anyone else or just me?

i don't mean that Ubasses - when you make your order they ask fr your name and write it on the cup. You can't NOT give them a name

from before covid
All sorts of companies/ shops seem to try and implement what they see as company policies , like they tried to collect every ones email, to bombard them with email adds, you just say no thanks.
I'd just tell them it was Tiggy or Tiggs. Do you have to give them your real name?
Oh, didn't know that, thought you meant the new rules, seems an odd thing to do.
It's not somewhere I visit and if not comfy with it I'd give a nickname.

They state...

//Starbucks: "Taking a customer’s name, writing it on a cup and calling it out is a symbol of our warm welcome. It is part of the Starbucks Experience and creates a moment of connection between our baristas and customers.//

They also ran a diversity campaign featuring some of the ads and won awards for them.
i don't want anyone shouting out 'Dick' when i'm in a restaurant

Does anyone still give 'Spartacus' as their name - with obvious, but still hilarious results?
Use your middle name Cynthia ;-)
No Andy, there's usually a fair chance you'll get someone else's coffee.
You could have been a mystery shopper, and when you came to filling in your report and came to the question 'did they ask your name?' And they hadn't so you answered 'no', that member of staff would have got a reprimand, been sent for retraining or even sacked. That's why they do it.
I use McDonalds, they don't pretend to give a monkey's and it's only a quid.
I'll stick to getting my 250 grams of ground coffee from the supermarket for £2.30. It lasts me over two weeks. Whats the going rate for this Starbucks great coffee??
Don't tell him, Pike!

Never been in a Starbucks
That goes some way to explaining the advert I couldn't understand when they kept calling someone Gemma yet in Starbucks the name given was James. The meaning was lost on me - I couldn't understand what it had to do with coffee.
Honestly is it a problem? You can say number 42 if you want to....its just an easy way of getting the right drink to the right person.
I don't think it would bother me to be fair.
