What's the best time of year to buy TVs? Before Christmas there are various price promotions but afterwards there are the January sales. I'd like to get an LCD screen and I guess the non-HDTV type will drop in price soon. But I'm not sure when?

if you get the sears catolouge I would look in there. espesially before christmas. and in future shop and wall mart after, like in boxing day

Hiya...I got a wide/flat 32 "screen tv last Jan in a sale for 400...have since seen in another shop for 1000 so Jan would be my answer!!  Kelkoo or pricerunner are good websites to take a look on when you're doing big buys like that as they compare prices of the same thing in different shops.  I searched Kelkoo (for example) for my cooker and got it about 200 cheaper!!

Shortly after Christmas for 2 reasons:

1.  they will be lower in price in the january sales

2. shops are well known for trying to shift out all their "old" stock in the run up to christmas
