I don't think so.

Why do you ask?
Question Author
Just curious. Was reading a book about a child being abducted from the school gates and wondered why there is never cctv? Is there reason why they don't have it?
I think cctv could be useful outside of school
Frankly I am astounded .... all over the place in a Hospital
Probably 'yooman' rights...
It's not human rights craft, its an absence of budget - the NHS has the money, the Education Authorities do not.
Sorry Andy, are you saying the NHS has money, I thought they were always pleading poverty...
Question Author
I do think they should have them for lots of reasons.
craft - I am saying that the NHS has money which it decides is well spent in this area, the EA does not - which does not equate to their actually having spare money - just the allocation of the money that they do have.

The NHS spends its money on things like executives and CCTV, the EA spends it on things like books and teachers.
Yes
I would like CCTV in all classrooms, too.
They have it in some nurseries and parents can check in on their children.
I worked in a school with CCTV cameras externally and in the corridors.
Yes, I think it should be in all schools both to protect the pupils and the teachers.
Why not ? There is a report in the papers today ( which I can't find again)
that says that 10,000s of people are parking outside schools, despite there being road markings to say they shouldn't.

CCTV is one of today's better weapons against bad behaviour and I can't see any reason whey they shouldn't be used.
Because they are an invasion of privacy ?

If children are being abducted at the school gate why are staff not there ensuring it doesn't happen ? Not a lot of point allowing it to happen but feeling content you might be able to identify the culprit.
OG, it cannot be an invasion of privacy if the camera is recording a public highway.
Question Author
I don't think its an invasion of privacy, we have them in towns etc and NHS. Teachers cannot always know what the kids are up to. We expect too much from teachers and staff, but the truth is the parents should take more responsibility aswell. If you are late to collect a child, i mean really late and that child gets into another car, yes maybe the teacher shouldn't have allowed that to happen, but then the parents should explain stranger danger, but sometimes unfortunately no matter what teachers/parents do, the sad thing is that kids get abducted/groomed.

and cctv is deterrant.
