 I wanted to buy a sideboard from Index which has now shut down,I have trawled loads of  furniture sites and catalogues in the hope of finding either the same or similar to no avail.(the product I was looking for had no brand or manufacture name)Surely this piece of furniture wasn't specifically made for Index and must be supplied elsewhere(or so im hoping)any suggestions?

I've had the same problem with a bedroom furniture range. If you know the name of the range it should come up on google, mine has come up under Additions direct,debenhams,john Lewis. Kays, Choice etc. all the same bigger company, still haven't managed to fin it in stock though. Good Luck

Sorry, just realised you said it had know name, I'm still trying to find out who supplies these places to maybe buy direct, but having no joy.
