Can anyone recommend a good site to buy fabric scraps to use for patchwork 'things'? I have looked on the net but there are so many I don't know where to start. Thanks.

Ebay sells "fat quarters", that any good?
Question Author
What's a fat quarter?
I though a fat quarter was the part of a town filled with fast food shops!

or, if you'd prefer a serious answer . . .

Sherr...a fat quarter is a way of cutting a yard of fabric into a versatile 18x22 inches.

charity shops jumble sales

Can you tell that I have no idea what I am doing (or thinking about doing?).
Some charity shops sell fabric scraps.

or upstairs in Badder Fabrics, perhaps?

I'd stick to Ebay or market stalls. Some clothing factories will have factory shops you can buy from.

I saw that shop earlier when I was googling (but didn't get round to trying to work out where it actually is).
Hobbycraft will do them and other craft shops, fat squares which make it easier for you as they are already cut into the same size square and tend to be similar material which would help when beginning.

Oxfam do some lovely ones made from sari type material and some other ones.

I'd do as Daffy says, I think fat quarters are pricey for what they are. Ikea does fabric quite cheap.
You can buy fabric from http://www.calicolaine.co.uk that can be used for dressmaking and other sewing related projects. I'm just not sure if they also offer fabric scraps, visit their website to be sure.
