Just for interest, is there a beauty product (men and women here) that you buy that's a real bargain, but works better for you than all the expensive named brands?

For me, it’s Asda’s pro-vitamin conditioner.  About 1.20 for a huge bottle and there isn’t another conditioner that makes my hair as soft.

I find Superdrug baby lotion fantastic as a make-up remover. A big bottle only costs about 99p, so it's a real bargain. Also I think any cheap brand of fake tan is ok to use as it's all in the preparation (exfoliation, etc.) and application.
Yes the hot flannel method is the best way of cleansing .I have to use a cream as well though as my skin is a bit dry.My skin is pretty good too for my age which is 56.This was what my Mum always used to do and she had lovely skin right up until she died at the age of 92.Sometimes the old fashioned ways are the best.Same with nails ,I soak mine in olive oil every week and it keeps them from splitting and flaking.
like nicola_red, I really love tesco's make up brand. it's all of a really good quality. my favourite is the eyebrow pencil which is about 3.50. I have blonde hair and so quite fair eyebrows and don't like them looking too thin. I looked everywhere for a fair eyebrow pencil, but with every other brand they were all too dark. this is the best one I have found and one of the cheapest!! my other blonde friend is a new convert too.

sorry clairelb to detract from your question but CATANORY I tried your bargain exfoliation technique and it really works.  I wondered if it was damaging at all, though, to have the water very hot or is this ok?

I use the Asda wipes to take my make-up off but I use one of those shower puffs with hot-ish water to clean my face - it exfoliates and opens the pores and then I splash with cold water to close the pores. Does the trick - CATANORY is right - does wonders for your skin!
