I've always said shrozeberry
I say Shroo ....
I say Shroosberry as in shroos (shrews) but I'm not from that region.
chaptazbru is correct.
Thank you kind sir !
Your welcome.
It's probably one of those names people will always disagree about, we've got a couple near us, for instance" Southwell" or "Suthell", "Rainworth" or "Renneth".Even people who live there can't agree.
It's the same with a lot of places. I originally come from Widnes (I know, nobody's heard of it!) and we pronounce it Wid-ness, but many pronounce it Widniz, which gets up my nose !
From a Yorkshire lad...Shreewsberry....accent on the es....well we like to be different up eer....:-)
Shrowsbury if you live there and Shroosbry if you don't IMHO
echokilo is also correct.
You're very gregarious aren't you tony ??
Probably ( if i knew what it mean't ).
To be honest, I'm not sure, but it sounds good !
who gives a buqqer as long as one understands.

Launceston though........there's another matter and definitely not Lawn-cess-ton
I thought that was pronounced Law ceston DT.
I don't give a bu**er DT, just going along with the thread !!
I lived in Happisburgh and Costessey, and work in Wymondham.
(Hazeburra, Cossy and Windem - sounds like a firm of solicitors!).
Larn'ston, tony.....

hi chapta - nothing like going with the flow - esp as it is now raining here again....very lightly it must be said. Brings back the memory of "it was always raining on Denbigh Moor and when it wasn't, it was fine - but there was still precipitation in t'air"

h
lankeela - I like Private Eye's solicitors, "Sue, Grabbit & Run"
