Where can I buy Christmas crackers that are a bit special without costing a fortune ? Thanks

Why not make your own - They are very easy to do and you can make them as special as you wish and they won't cost the earth.
M&S have some good looking ones at �15 for 6...is that a reasonable amount for you?

Looking for some with gifts that are different from the usual tat
I have seen ones which have little flutes in each cracker and a tunes and everything. So u will need a number of people, they all have a flute with a number, and one conductor who looks at the music sheet supplied and calls out the numbers of the flutes so that the right person plays at the right time. You then have your own carol music. I think one person can manage two flutes.

Waitrose and lots supermarkets sell them
Boots at the moment have a good range of crackers and a lot of them are 1/2 price + you get your boots points......
