I need to wash a Cinderella dress. It is a Disney one and was expensive when it was new (it was a present) and as you can imagine it is made of lots of different materials and has a hope in the netting stuff. Any ideas how to wash it as it is filthy and my daughter wants to wear it for World Book Day and I can't send h to school in it the way it looks now. Thanks.

If it was expensive, and is lots of different materials, why not just send it to the dry cleaners, it will come back in one day, clean and pressed.
dip hand wash luke warm water and something like woolite. Do not scrub or wring, agitate gently in the water do not wring out, rinse well, drip most of water out then lay between two big towels , spread dress out neatly and pat all over with top towel, hang in a warm place to dry on a padded hanger, tweak into shape as its drying.

Thanks all - might have to persuade her to go as something else (the dress is a bit posh and even came on it's own, special, padded hanger).
Awww let her wear it.

If as you say it was expensive, she'll not get much wear out of it before she outgrows it. Seems a shame to deny her the day of showing it off :-)
does it not have washing instructions in it?

Thanks everyone. In the end I took the hoop out and washed it in the machine on hand wash. It came out looking brilliant. When I put the hoop back in I found the washing instructions (between all the different layers of skirt and netting and stuff).
my daughter in law has a lovely dark red evening dress first time she wore it to a dinner dance my son caught the gravy boat with his arm and the whole lot went over her dress it was an awful mess she took it to the cleaners and they said there was no way all the grease and stain would come out , so she brought it home to bin it, i soaked it in a strong bowl of washing up liquid water then rinsed it out well then hand washed it in the machine with no spin and drip dryed it on the line it came up as could as new
