when goldfish are born, how long do they take before they turn golden??

It depends, I've had fish in my pond that have changed colour in a couple of months and others have still been black (or part black) for over year. Size of the pond, water conditions, weather,temperature and food availability are just some of the factors that can affect groweth and colour change. I'm afraid it's usually a case of waiting fo nature to take its course

Some of mine are still black after 3 years.Others born from the same spawn are yellowish some are completly gold others are gold with black areas
