not quite anstey. Weight IS a force. Gravity is also a force. Weight is the force on a body caused by gravity acting upon the body's mass. The standard unit of weight is Newton. As per Newton 2 (F=ma) Weight in Newtons is equal to the product of a body's mass (kg) and the acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s/s)

The SI Unit for Weight is the Newton - Weight is a force. On earth, a body's weight is a downward force equal and opposite to the upward force exerted by the earth on that body.

Weight is a force and is measured in Newtons named after Issac Newton.
