I have a biology paper due thursday.
and its about whether you would drown faster in hot or cold water. im pretty sure you would drown faster in hot water. something to do with enzymes slowing down because of the cold temp. which causes chemical reactions in your body to slow down.
but i need a good explanation why.
i have nothing to put in my paper.
and information on the topic "would you drown faster in summer or winter and why?" is much appreciated. HELP!

This is a bit about the mammalian diving reflex which might be a good place to begin...http://www.deeperblue.net/article.php/225
I'd be interested to know if you find out the answer - would drowning depend on ingestion of water, drop in body temperature, or as you say, chemical changes in the body? Or would you sink faster/float less easily in hot water as it is less dense?
