I own three Sculptured bay trees, that stand approx. 5ft tall. They have recently developed a white stain, like "bird poo" on the trunks. Is this harmfull to the trees? is it treatable, if so could anyone help with a solution.

Hi Pitprop, Yes it certainly sounds like a fungus but I also wonder if it could be wooly aphid or scale. What ever the problem is, it is treatable and what I would suggest is use a combined Fungicide and pesticide like 'Roseclear'
It comes in a ready to use spray gun and works on other shrubs as well as just roses. Good Luck Tbird+
