Can anyone tell me the difference between micro ploughing and micro cutting?

From what I understand of the information accessed, they are similar, but micro-ploughing tends to lead to parallel grooves whereas micro-cutting tends to give more random grooves. Both are experienced in the polishing of surfaces, A circular application of an abrasive would lead to micro-cutting, but linear application ( polishing a walking stick for example ) would result in micro-ploughed type grooves. Micro-ploughing could be better for lubication and micro-cutting could give more resistance to lateral breakage.
I am not an engineer and know little about stress analysis.
