What chemical substance gets warm when you aggitate it?

It was a liquid or gas (I know that really narrows it down) but when this substance was in a test tube it would get notably warm when we gave it a shake (no not a milkshake). Any ideas please.

you know, you could have said fluid. I don't know, but you can get sodium acetate heat pads and those are pretty incredible.
It could be a supersaturated solution of Sodium Thiosulphate - this will crystalise if agitated, giving out large amounts of heat
Yeah, that's the same thing sodium acetate does (with the crystals)
