PVA actually stands for polyvinyl acetate.

Nope, PVA stands for poly vinyl alcohol, PVAc is poly vinyl acetate. Solubility depends on molecular weight of the polymer and, temperature of water (assuming it is pure). These are the only factors.


As to rate of dissolution, this is subject to a different range of factors.
