On start up, Mrs Clarions' laptop has a message that says:

"The procedure entry point (gives details) could not be located at the dynamic link library"

She just closes it and all seems ok but what does it actually mean? Any ideas anyone? TIA.

If it helps at all, my first shot at fixing the problem would be to try Fix 3 from the second link above.

Thanks for the replies. Chris, I've tried using Fix 3 but it says I must be an administrator and won't go past that. Not sure what that means. Any ideas please?

A different route to get to the same result:

Type 'cmd' into the Windows search field.

You'll see 'Command prompt' appear below it.

RIGHT-click on it and select 'Run as administrator'.

When asked if you want the app to be allowed to make changes to your computer, select 'Yes'.

Type 'sfc /scannow' and hit 'Enter'.  (Note that there's a space before the '/').

Thanks Chris. I did that and it did scan but it found nothing wrong. However, the message is still appearing on start up, so there must something wrong somewhere. Mrs Clarion just presses ok and carries on. It seems ok when she does that but there's got to be something amiss somewhere.
