Hope not!  Leave duvet turned back through the day to air.

No, hopefully living in a rural village will help keep us free.  Apparently rife in the cities.  If I remember correctly you are in Bedford, we probably need to watch out as they are meant to be rife in Luton!!

Has anyone ever seen one? How big are they?

Size about the head of a match.

Quote from Google:

Adult bed bugs are usually brown in colour. When filled with blood, their colour ranges from red to dark brown. They are oval in shape and about the size of a flattened apple seed, 4 to 7 mm in length.

No thank you

Big enough to see then. Eek!

I don't think airing the bed will help.  They are rife in Spain where people often hang their duvets outside (or over the balcony) every day to air.

Ì thought airing the bedding did help. Don't they thrive in warm places?

Yes, Tilly - ideal breeding ground.  People like to make up beds right away but it is best to leave to air  .. for over an hour anyway.  Barrry, I lived in Majorca for a year - never had troube with bed bugs.

I got bitten by the blighters in India when staying at the Red Shield Salvation Army Hostel in Delhi. You get a line of bites that itch like blazes.

I only went there because I'd teamed up in my travels with a Russian guy who'd been there before & he said they did a great line in porridge !

Still, I always give something to the Salvation Army tin-rattlers saying, "I was once a client of yours"

A favourite hiding place is in the cracks of wooden beds.

When they sense the heat of a body they come out to dine.

Some people have a bad reaction while others hardly notice they've been bitten.

Evidence that there might be bugs in a bed are tiny smears of blood on the sheets.

Tilly. Are you asking for a friend? 😁

Tilly, once they are in your bedroom you need to actively get rid of them, throwing back the bedding will just drive them in to other crevices until you are warm and snuggly in your bed.  Then they'll be back.

My mother was obsessed with bedbugs although I don't recall us having them.  Every now and then she would creep in to a dark bedroom with a bar of wet soap (remember when it used to get slimy), thrust her hand under the sheets and dab away with the soap.  Then she'd inspect the soap with a magnifying glass to see if any bedbugs had stuck to it.

Barry, that exact scenario was played out in a 1962 movie called The L-Shaped Room. Perhaps your Mum had seen it. 🙂

The Wife bugs me in bed.😏

You should be pleased, Dusty.

Maybe my mother wrote the film!  I'm going back before the 60s
