Just do normal long division but in octal. 4 goes into 5 once, so that g=1; 4 goes into 17_8 = 15_10 three times, remainder 3, etc. You might find it easier at each step to convert to decimal, in order to not automatically, and wrongly, write down that 17/4 = 4 remainder 1 (like I nearly did) before converting back. But it's mechanical, and just requires care and patience.
