He was telling someone the distance wasn't the problem, it was the width...

It was the width of the bridge over the river in the middle of our village that did for a long ago priest, Corby.
We would watch him head for the parochial house on the other side. A thirty second trip took him a good five minutes as he drunkenly pushed himself off each side of the bridge zig zagging all the way.
