If there's no alcohol in it, you can rest assured that none of the lake's water will be inside Tony ;-)

When will people learn about the dangers of frozen-over water in the UK?
I have walked for miles on a frozen lake...Lake Baikal in Siberia, where the ice was over a metre thick and lorries take a short-cut crossing it (it's HUGE).
Can't see Tony venturing to Solihull, for any reason.
I think you´ll find tonyav lives several miles from Solihull. But thanks for your concern.

I haven’t seen him around in a while, yes that’s awful what’s happened
Seems to me that there's a generation or two who lack basic common sense and a rudimentary knowledge of how nature works.
Playing on a partially frozen lake , well that speaks volumes really.
Noooo, doesn't involve me, I was busy slalom skiing on Barr Beacon ;-)
cue for a song Skiing in the Snow
:-)
Looks like those involved were children, so probably not the right place to make jokes at their expense. And I bet a child has died by falling through ice at some time during the childhood of every AnswerBank member, it's hardly a modern phenomenon.
If thats for me ellipses my song reference wern't about the tragic death's but about Tony slalom skiing

what the ffffing fff, ellipsis - way off the mark, I hasten to say. I am disgusted at your inference that this was light-hearted indeed - seriously disgraceful and you should apologise.

Glad you are ok, Tony.....Buenchico's remark was just a dig, and nothing more than that, the probability that he and his family weren't there,
Solihull is about 10 miles away from me, got bigger and better pools much closer. And Chris is right ;-)
If anyone wants to read my comments as directed at them, feel free to. I don't see why you would have, DTC, but to do so and then take offence is rather egocentric.
Sadly despite warnings being issued every year about keeping off frozen ponds, lakes etc, people still do it, and every year there seems to be another tragedy, It is also true that tragic circumstances can release somewhat inappropriate humour. It's a way of separating ourselves from sadness.
Yes I knew your a northern soul fan tony but was thinking of this version.

Perhaps in News the thread might of taken a different tack
Many lives ruined in time for Christmas :-(
WigansOvation was the first that popped up for me on Youtube, bobbin. I should have looked a bit better.
