sheepishly raises hand!
..and me
Me too!
Write letters to magazines instead Mally. Just got ANOTHER cheque from readers digest (my third now) for a readers letter.
To answer your question, yes it does ;o)
Bigger whats Scorpio? Envelopes?
Of course ;)
Yes, no one wants a small glass of wine
And me, and I'm really disappointed...

Post the same question in 'body and soul', lol!
:)
I have been entering prize crosswords for about 8 years now, and have won the Sunday Times twice solid silver fountain pen, the Guardian crappy books twice, and the Saturday Telegraph Whitaker's Almanack once.

I started using pastel coloured envelopes about 2 years ago, in the hope that they would stand out when the envelopes were being picked at random, but have won nothing since !

So I have gone back to using normal white C6 envelopes instead !
Begs the question if the Guardian offers "crappy books" then why bother wasting a stamp and submitting the crossword in the first place.? :-)
Wikos are cheapest for envelopes to use for comps, I also use 2nd class stamps, I have won the Telegraph GK £200 once many years ago and several prizes of £100 with the Express, but I have spent more in postage over the years than I have won.
I also wonder when I read the list of winners that there are never two winners from the same area, do they take one envelope from each mailbag ?
Size shouldn't matter. As long as it's properly filled in ;-)
I won the two silver fountain pens in the summer of 2010. The first came on the 19th of July, and it was my first big win, and I was delighted.
A beautiful Cross pen, worth about £250 at the time.

Imagine my surprise when I received a 2nd pen 5 weeks later ! I thought that a mistake had been made, so I called the Sunday Times immediately.

I was told that it was a genuine second win and that no mistake had been made. I queried the matter further and was told that having a previous win did not prevent me from winning again, as each time, the "clocks" were set back to zero again, so to speak.

This was confirmed a week later when I encountered a retired Telegraph Features Editor, in the course of my work in Mid Wales. He too, said that all newspapers abided by the same code of practise, and that you could in theory at least, win a prize every week ! He told me that it was pure luck to be chosen. In the Telegraph office, they used to up-end the sack or sacks of mail on the floor ( no desk was big enough apparently ! ) and they picked an envelope at random.

I'm afraid I never asked him whether any particular colour or size of envelope made a difference.

I'm getting too used to this place.
I thought I'd be very surprised if it were about naughty bits.
Mallyh....I mention a few days ago that I have won 2 Sunday Times puzzles, only 3 weeks apart in the Summer of 2010, but nothing since.

Well.... today a letter arrived to say that I have won first prize again, and this time its a Rolled Gold Cross fountain pen, worth £205 !

I am not sure what I am doing right, but I must be doing something !
