if you could change anything about modern life in Britain, something that you consider worked, or you thought was better years ago, what would it be. Hope that makes sense..

The weather, bring back proper seasons!
I`d say the weather too. Summers didn`t used to be grey and windy all the time.
Question Author
did we really have them though... i wonder... it should be something say that one could change, perhaps....
OK. I`d abolish the school run and Chelsea Tractors.
Lots of things em, probably get banned if I mentioned some !.

Cars that you could fix/repair without the need of plugging it into a computer to find the fault.

i would go back to decent customer service, sorry boo, some on tills are awful, as of course are some customers, as per the other thread.
Also return the Post Office proper, it's a disaster as it is now. Poor service, our post offices are a disgrace, and get back the postie who knows the area.
Bring back the message laddies who delivered your messages in a basket on the front of his bike!
Bring back proper discipline for children in schools and at home.
Question Author
only if they don't have to deliver bad news of service personnel killed in wars. that must have been devastating to do..
Question Author
traci, i will go for that, no cane though, counter productive.
Reinstate Sunday closing, you used to get some good bargains in the supermarket on a Saturday afternoon.

Em, Maggiebee means shopping when she refers to messages, it's a Scottish term.
Question Author
never heard that one. so what else. Polite people who queue, not stick their elbows in your ribs and shove you out the way to get on the bus.
Abolish all powered garden tools - especially petrol driven ones.

The peace of a Sunday used to be enhanced by the quiet whirr of hand pushed lawn mowers and snicking of shears.

Now it is shattered by the appalling racket of the "I've got a noisy mower/strimmer/shredder and I'm damn well going to use it" brigade.
Lone mums should not have SHousing till aged 21y when they are more mature & learn home economics from their parents
Question Author
what would you reinstate that was better then, i would most definitely get the high streets back on their feet, if it were possible. I rather shop there, or markets than in supermarkets.
Question Author
SD, i always think they have some penis issue when you see them with these things...
Question Author
tambo, sadly some of the mums don't have a clue themselves. get back home economics in schools for boys and girls..
Oh yes, and those little brown envelopes full of dosh on a Thursday of Friday !.
Or, not of.
Question Author
all of my wages in one little brown envelope, with the details of how much and whatever deductions...
