i have thought of this for a very long time i could be right i could be wrong may be you have the sane thinking on this so here goes
why a lot of people get fat not all mind you
when we are in the womb as the skin is an organ i reckon when the parent/s
goes into the fast food places the taste and smell goes through the the baby so the baby already have the taste for fast food also when the baby is born the parents take the babies to the fast food places
i may wrong to this but the wealthy people who do not go the the fast food places from p regency their children do not have the liking to fast food and are not fat this is just my thinking what do you think

What a rant without taking a breath! Did you ever stop to think that less wealthy people can only afford cheaper, and often more fatty meats, like bacon, sausages, value mince etc.
We do tend to get our eating "style" from our parents and extended family.

If you grow up in a family where all the food is "bad" food and nobody ever eats vegetables or fruit then you are more likely to carry that on into YOUR adulthood (though you may rebel).

On the other hand if you grow up in a family that eats well and has a healthy balanced diet you are more likely to carry that through into adulthood.

Nothing to do with getting the taste for the food while in the womb.

It is also not just about money, even people with little money can still eat good healthy food.
How then do you account for the fact that I have 2 superobese brothers, while my BMI is 21 ? I'm size 10.
Same parents.
And how did people become obese in the past before there was any fast food ?
When I was a child, there was no fast food except fish and chips from the chippy. However, there were some very fat adults about but it was always said to be their 'glands' I never did ask or find out which glands.
"And how did people become obese in the past before there was any fast food ?"

Certain diseases could account for obesity - diabetes, under active thyroid.

Also taking in more calories than what the body's daily needs require, certain medication etc.
Apart from fluid retention in some illnesses, getting overweight is only caused by what goes in your mouth. If you have a BMI of 20 you must be very normal weight.

Getting obese is due to the body laying on fat for leaner times. This is why fatty foods taste nicer. We now don't have to hunt for our food so don't have 'leaner' times anymore, the body just keeps putting it on. Staying your ideal weight is not easy for most people. It requires will power and self respect.

Addiction to food has also become a leading cause of obesity. This can be quite serious and this addiction is no different from smoking tobacco or taking drugs habits. Nobody can now claim to be unaware of which foods are unhealthy so if you want your brothers to loose weight, all you can do is to make sure they know you support them - they have to want to loose it or they won't succeed.

Some people have to work harder on keeping their weight down than others but that is no excuse to let yourself go. Life is unfair, get on with it. While it is true that babies growing up with regular fast food outlet visits are more likely to continue, I am pretty sure this does not apply before they are born.
The 'in the womb' idea sounds rather unlikely to me, I see no reason to think it would be an affect. But if, as a parent, you encourage your offspring to desire food that won't prove best choice later in life, then sure, they may develop a taste for it which proves difficult to resist, or change.

I don't believe this explains that much though, the issue is more complex in my opinion.
