FAO Horseshoe

I was walking down a Cornish country lane
choosing berries for a Halloween pie
my lips and fingers dyed with purple witchy stain
and yet another bursting fruit I tried.

I was humming a favourite Bard poem
in oblivion as I roamed
along with nature, now as one
I had forgotten being away from home.

It was then I found a horseshoe
could this indeed be my charm
would it make my dreams come true
and bring love to my empty arms.

I cleaned it up, now metal gleaming
My horseshoe hung over the clematis-ed door
An expression of love in my dreaming
That soon I wouldn't be empty anymore.

In a dream, my horsehoe revealed
the truth of things that are to be
Love's destiny may indeed be sealed
But Nature's Providence has brought you to me.

This shouldn't be a transient love
But a passionate, arduous, sensual and true
A blackberry on the tree above
and the uncovering of a lucky horseshoe.
