You see a shirt for £97, but
You don't have the money, so you borrow £50 off you're Mum and £50 off you're Dad.
£50+£50=£100, right?
... ...
You buy the shirt and have £3 change, you give £1
to you're Mum, £1 to you're dad and you keep £1 to yourself.

Now you owe them both £49.

£49+£49=£98 + YOUR £1 = £99

Where is the
missing £1?

Haha - unpick the gold thread before you take it back and weigh the gold in lol (hopefully the shop won't notice anything untoward) ..... oh .... and make sure everyone gets their money back - and don't try pocketing any wayward pound coins :)
LOL missprim..same diff.
£50 was borrowed from either parent. £48.50 from each parent was spent on the shirt. £1.50 from each parent was remaining. £1 is given back to each parent. Leaving you with 50p from either parent...... there is no missing £1
"YOUV'E GOT IT". SHOULD HAVE GIVEN MUM & DAD £1.50 BACK EACH
THEN YOU WOULD HAVE OWED THEM £48.50 EACH
48.50 +48.50= 97.00+ THE £3 CHANGE = £100
No missing £1 - £97 for top - £1 for mum, £1 for Dad and £1 for self = £100
