Hello and Good Morning to all MM Linkers.

This is Lady Alex here and I am delighted to be setting the links again after three years in the doldrums. In my very first month (February 2008), I managed to score six (single) hits (without any bonus points) but still qualified as Royal Setter of the March Links.

Now that I am retired and am a lady of leisure, I have lots of spare time to indulge my hobbies, but I have noticed that over the years the way I choose to spend my leisure time has changed quite a bit.

When Lord Alex and I were first married, I was heavily into cooking. As this was in the seventies, cooking was totally different than it is today. At that time, there was no such thing as “nouvelle cuisine” or “healthy eating” and olive oil was still easier to come by in the chemist's shop than in the grocer's. Even the concept of the “supermarket” was yet to become commonplace. Prawn Cocktail and Black Forest Gateau were considered the height of culinary sophistication. For many cooks, the closest they got to herbs was singing 'Scarborough Fair'.

I recall one evening when we really pushed the envelope when entertaining friends, serving Borscht as a starter, Chicken Kiev as the main course and Brown Bread Ice Cream as a dessert! However, I was not tempted at any stage to follow Fanny Craddock's advice and colour my mashed potatoes green.
Question Author
According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I will follow the usual rule on word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! Each of my selected link words may go in front or behind my challenge word! The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when crofter will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past.

My first set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
Good morning LadyAlex - we, your loyal subjects, look forward to
your reign - may it be unsophiscated and straight forward, though
I am already worried about things culinary !
J
I meant unsophisticated of course - too early for such long words
Good morning ladyalex. As I didn't score one point last month I hope I am more on your wavelength.
Is food a little too obvious ? or perhaps words from Scarborough Fair ? I am sure I am nowhere near but am really going to try hard today !!
Oh dear forgot capital L and A , LadyAlex (not a good start)
Can't remember if it's apocryphal, just misquoted or would have been interesting to hear, but:
"Mmmmmm. These smell delicious. If you try that recipe at home, I hope your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's".
