I, sensibly, posted a question in yesterday's Motoring section, expecting 'sensible' replies - the replies I got were worthy of CBer's rather than mechanics, so I may as well post here anyway.

I have, what my daughter described as, Rolf Harris under my bonnet (Peugeot 307 1600 petrol) playing his didge. I would describe it as the sound of a whirring v1bration... & lordy knows I'm familiar with that sound.

I have no sensible replies yet & it's there again this morning. When I take my foot off the accelerator mostly. No Hopkirk - I haven't looked under the actual bonnet, I don't know where the thingmyjiggerypokery bit is to lift it up. It could be just a stuck leaf? It could be next door's cat?

As a ponderence - I wonder WHY I never get any sensible replies? ;-)
take the darned thing to your local friendly and recommended mechanic. I thought the fan answer was the only sensible one :D
Take it to a reputable garage Tilly.
Question Author
But that would cost money.... my christmas money....
Sorry alba - you were semi-serious x
It's either that or it will let you down Tilly.
Question Author
Bummer... will have to do without that flashing Rudolf now. The one that sings "My Jingle Dingle-Ling" a la Chuck Berry - soooooooo tasteful.

Ah well, needs must ;-(
TURN THE RADIO UP...!!!
Question Author
I did ummm..... I've had enough of Mumford & Sons & more Lloyd Webber than I could shake a stick at.....
have a peek at your under carriage :D x
Question Author
Will do alba.... I've got to venture outside during daylight hours at some point today anyway - to expect the scratch damage I did last night when I slid into the neighbour's conifer. Yet again. More T-cut..... costs me a bleedin' fortune, cars.
which could lead to another topic, what costs more kiddiewinkies or cars?
Question Author
Depends on which you like the most........

I've spent more on my children, definitely. And rightly so ;-)
I daren't even think of adding up on my kiddies (oh, they'd hate me for that word, - young men) And I don't begrudge a penny :D Sorry off topic

Slightly back on topic, but not quite, but related - did you know that Rolf Harris is 80? 80 - that's incredible. I've just wikipedia'd him - how sad is that - looking up Rolf Harris on Wikipedia before 8 o'clock in a morning.

And, back on topic, I've come to the conclusion that the noise under my bonnet is more a cross between a didgeridoo and a wobble board. Does that help anyone?
Probably a loose belt slipping on it's wheel. Boring but true. Could mean your alternator isn't working properly which might lead to battery probs. So, best push up bra on and plenty Lippy and off to see mike and the mechanics.
I know it's Chrimbo money but better safe than sorry. Especially in this weather.

80, jeepers, childhood peeps shouldn't be getting on.

I wish I could offer better help x
Question Author
lol count.
I have a man. He's called Steve and he's a family friend, so push up bra not required. I'm sure for a nice bottle of Burgundy he'll peek under my undercarriage or whatever. It's just finding the time, as well as the money - Gawd, having car problems is soooooooo boring.
You might only need a bit of a wipe down and a tighten. If he's a mate then he might, as you say, do it for a quick slurp.

Ps is Rolf still married to Anita? ;-)
Question Author
OMG Anita Harris - blast from the past.... She was always such a smug woman. I'll be even sadder and wikipedia her....
Morning Smuttsista ;-)
Just for you
