I think you'd need to be nearing pension age to remember him.

Tommy the Toreador
Well he is still treading the boards and was on Alan Titchmarsh show last year.
I only catch fragments of Steve Wright's show ('cos I can't stand the guy) but I'm sure that mentioned Tommy Steele was booked as a guest on the programme some time this week. He definitely did the 'tracks of my years' slot on Ken Bruce's show earlier this year.
He's a nice chap by all accounts and was watching him on 'The One Show' just now
Oi! Nearing pension age indeed. I remember him well, and I'm still in me prime. [:o)

It was seeing him on The One Show that prompted my question. I had a feeling that lots of young, and not so young, people wouldn't remember him.
Watched him as Ebeneezer Scooge in Manchester a few years back, excellent performance. Deserves to be knighted.
I remember him from way back, good to see he is still going strong.
His wife lived in the next street to me before she went to London as a dancer. Her dad was a rag and bone man, I suppose he has now become an antiques dealer.
Our local rag and bone man now drives a white van and calls himself a dealer in non ferrous metals!
I am 15 years off pension and I remember him, he paints too.
i saw him in half a sixpence. I thought the show was rubbish and left after an hour.
born in 1936
Ahhhhhh memories, I used to have pictures of him all over my bedroom walls. I was 15 then, it was the man/boy I loved, not so much the music. I still love to see him on the few occasions he is on TV.
he coovered this song but here's the original - much better !
