I know who got a runners up in the Sunday Express boxing day quiz

No, and I've been doing them for over 10 years. The same with Sunday Express, Chat, Take a Break and That's Life. Have never won a thing!!!!

Don't I lead a sad life!

Eddy Ayres

Alas no, I've never won a thing , despite doing them for 8 years every week! You can only live in hope I suppose!!

My wife and I won the Mail on Sunday General Knowledge Prize Crossword about two years ago. We won 1500 and it paid for our holiday last August.

I've always wondered what happens when you win? When do they contact you and were u one of the people whose photo appeared in the paper?
Yes, believe it or not I have. I won the big Sunday Express prize of 1000.00 a couple of years ago and a few weeks after that I won one of the 25.00 runner up prizes. Not expecting to win anything else from them but have to enter every week just in case!
I won the Mail on Sunday crossword Feburuary 2003 , I was informed by phone and asked to confirm my address and agree to a professional photographer coming round, his assignment the day before had been with Madonna, so I was a bit of a downer for him. The cheque arrived 3 weeks later. Within a couple of weeks the Mail  doubled the prize money to 1.500. Bummer! I have also won with Take a Break and Chat.   Judy
I managed the Sunday Times prize crossword a few years ago (pre internet) . Spent hours at the library locating the name of some obscure poet, so I guessed there might be fewer entries that week. Seems like that was the case. Won a 12 book token.
I won 1500 for the Mail on Sunday crossword in Decemeber 2003 and was runner up in Sat telegraph GK and won a book
No, and I have been doing the Sunday Express and Mail on Sunday and the YOU crosswords for over 20 years
No but I recently won a 20 book token in the Daily Mail  Caption Competition! It was a photo of Zara Phillips whispering in her boyfriend's ear and I put "keep smiling, my tongue stud is caught in your earring". But I missed the result in the paper so didn't see my name in print!
Yes, a couple of years back I won the Daily Express AND News of The World in the same week!  Assuming each newspaper receives 35,000 entries (as I've been told) and allowing for six shots at the Express (Mon to Sat) then the odds are 35,000 squared, divided by 6, which is 1:204,166,167.  There is more chance of being struck by lightning.  This happened immediately after I started using my father's name on the entry form, having failed to win a competition in my own name for 35 years.  I was really chuffed to receive two prizes in my Dad's name and to see his name in the papers twice. I'm sure he would have been too, except that he passed away in 1968. The winning cheques were easily 'amended' as my middle name is the same, so I just added a 'J'.  I'm sure he wouldn't have minded . . .

How much did you win with the News of the World?

Pretty sure it was 100.  Still live in the same house. . .

What day is the crossword? Might have a go myself!
News of The World is on Sunday's only and has a very wide readership, or should I say a large number of viewers.  When you turn the pages you'll soon grasp what I mean.  The crossword is General Knowledge with no trick questions.  You'd be pretty clever to finish the whole puzzle without cheating but I'm sure you'll do 50-75% before Googling the balance.  Then just wait for the prize money.  100 is pretty tame for a newspaper of this size although they've just started a Sudoku puzzle worth 500 and not particularly easy.  Give it a go! Good Luck!  ja
I won 25.00 on the sunday express crossword, drawn out of the hat second, incidentally the 1000 winner that week lives about half a mile away from me

A few years ago, I won 25.00 with the Daily Express Xword.

I won a trip to the US Open in 1990 with the Sunday Express

I won 25 runner-up Sunday Express Magazine (1st name listede after the winner - could have been 1k).

Also 20 Daily Mail weekly cryptic.

10 years Daily Mail You Mag - not a bean.

You have to be in it to win it so they say. I won a little more on the Lottery spending much more than a paper, envelope and a stamp.

hi yes i won 1,000 on the daily express crossword for 7 november. getting the envelope in the post with a london postmark and the northern and shell building post mark - i was excited to open it but could not believe it that it was 1,000 - just on top of christmas as well - lovely feeling - has it happened to you yet?
