This is looking more and more like a Lib/Lab result - and I can't help imagine how gracefully the tabloid press will take it.

I'm wondering how the Mail and the Express will break the news to it's readership

I'm guessing the Sun won't go with "It woz the Sun wot lost it"

Any suggestions for the Editors?

Hmm better the Devil you know, the very one that trashed the UK economy in the first place. My I hate that argument, it simply is not one. On that basis no leader would ever be upsurped, of any party.

Personally I dont care what the tabloids say, the Mirror will pamper to its usual union and benfits scum readership the others will probably carry on attacking Brown.

What I do care about, and it is far more important, is how the Global markets will see it. It could turn out dire for us all. Far better if Brown won it outright.
I think the papers will be calling for a new election as early as possible.

Are these the same global markets that packaged up huge quantities of toxic debts and flogged them on to unsuspecting investors?

Or the Global markets that borrowed way more money than they were able to raise themselves in order to loan money to poorly secured borrowers creating Toxic debt in the first place.

Are these the global markets that needed world wide Governments to bail them out with public money borrowed from the same global markets?

Gosh It's a good job we've got the boys in the city keeping the Government on the straight and narrow isn't it?

Otherwise the treasury might do something naughty like package up a load of bonds and sell them on to unsuspecting investors who'd then suddenly find out they'd bought a load of Greek Government Gilts

Global markets = "fox in charge of chicken coup"

The Sun may say:

Dropped in the Brown stuff !
Stop dreaming jake, you know that's not going to happen. Were you not having a go at patriotism earlier? You seem to have blind belief that Noo Labour is good regardless. I am confident they'll out, tell you what I'll have the Labour symbol as an avatar for a week if I'm wrong? Will you take the Tory Tree? money where mouth is?

It's actually a really interesting question. The vast majority of the natioanl press have bet big on a Tory win and have burnt bridges in the process. They need it to happen and will do their best to make sure it does.

The Sun will be offering cheap air tickets for all those people wishing to leave the country...........

Not going to happen Geezer?

Why do you think Cameron will win an absolute majority? or do you think Clegg will do a deal with him?

He's seriously running out of time for the first don't you think?

That would be funny craft!
We already have everyone who is able getting out of this country! By the time the lib/labs have finished taxing everyone who manages to be successful until the pips squeak there will only be the hangers-on left. Who is going to foot the bill then?
It is only possible to have a welfare state if there are also a majority of people who are generating wealth.
Also, unless the conservatives win, our bankruptcy (existing but not acknowledged yet) will result in us losing our international credit rating; just watch interest rates soaring skyward and inflation running away then!
I think the Tories will earn a slim majority and form a governement, they may well have to do some deals down the line. I think labour will get a serious ar5se kicking in scotland where the SNP will take seats thus assisting the Tories. I think also that there are a lot of Labour seats that could go lib dem, possibly relagating Labour to 3rd.

Do you take the bet?
For once RI I'm praying you're right.
I think the AB news section will be seriously depleted as many regular users spontaneously combust.
A condition of a coalition will probably be that GB goes.
Who ever wins with a small majority will be blamed for the inevitable problems that will arise after the election and we will have another election within 18 months. If it is a hung parliament it wont even last that long.
The Ulster Unionists and DUP will hold us all by the nuts.
