leaving an 8 yr old locked in a room for a month, she had a mental age of 3 and has ended up hanging herself on a cord from the window...
12 months... I feel sick at the leniency of this sentence

that story made me very upset, the girl has similar issues to my son, I was so upset I couldnt read the report :(
where was that, bobbi? I haven't seen that report.
It's sickening bobbi.

it was in Mansfield, it really upsets me this type of thing, and 12 months is beyond comprehension

Sometimes, reading the news - there appears to be no hope for mankind - thankfully there are other stories to gladden the heart. It's just a balancing act really Bobbi. I think the dreadfully sad stories linger longer in the soul and mind.

it's the sentence I can't get my head around, I mean they didn't check on the child for a whole month...were they hoping she would die?
12 months is absolutely nothing, that doesn't mean justice. It was a tragedy that could have been prevented.
Question Author
I know they can't be charged with murder or manslaughter but surely wilful neglect should carry more time than 12 months... I hope their 'inmates' are friendly to them
I think that is the redeeming part of the sentence Bobbi
Question Author
one can only hope ttfn
Honour among........................and all that Bobbi.
12 months do 6 months then she can do the same again as nothing is preventing her. She should be sent down for life meaning life - so that she dies in prison same for the guy aswell and even though maybe it sounds abit OTT what I have said its only way that it will stop
Question Author
and I so agree Nmonkey, why is this allowed to happen?
Trouble is n/m I remember seeing photos of Myrah Hindley looking quite happy and relaxed during her 'incarceration' - my left foot.
I havent a clue why......think big part of the problem is the sentencing guidelines that guides the judge towards how long and most of the time a custodial sentence is not given because of the overcrowded prisons, well if a prolific offender is sent home then within hours he is going to re-offend. If arrested just goes through all the same process yet again and after being arrested and put before a court time and time again until finally a custodial sentence is given, it would be prob the cost less if custodial sentence had been given on the first court appearance. But dont see things improving any time soon in terms of a sentence which is sufficent for the crime
I've just gone and had a look at the article, and feel both disgusted and enormously angry. People like that should be locked up for a long time and sterilised to make sure they never have the chance to do that to another poor innocent child again. Or just released to the general public to deal with...
Disgusting, sickening and sad, she's in a better place now poor angel.
When you think that the canoe man and his wife both got 6 years+ for fraud, this is very lenient. But of course, in this country, human suffering and indeed murder, are not deemed as serious as defrauding an insurance company.
Why are some people blessed with children, this is so sad.
